About

I will try and make this short and sweet…although I am a writer and cannot promise you anything. Ok, how bout this…a little time line.

1981 – born in Lancaster, CA in Southern Cali. The good ol’ Antelope Valley Desert

1981-1999
– lived in the “Antelope Valley” as they called it. Was a decent student, danced a lot, twirled baton, was a Girl Scout, cheerleaded, had a boyfriend at a young age for way too long.

1999-2000 – moved to San Diego. Went to college. Lived by the beach.

2000-2006 - moved around a lot: back home, all over, to Valencia then Hollywood! Life was epic! Tried to find my way…figure out exactly what I wanted to do. Tried to major in film. Couldn’t get in after two semesters. Quite school. Then went back, asked my counselor “What can I do to get out of this school?” then switched to be a journalism major. I always loved to write and take photos. I had also been obsessed with snowboarding, even though I sucked at it during high school, because it was what the “hot boys” were into.

2006 – Finished school, said goodbye to HDub and moved to Squaw Valley in Tahoe. Wrote on the side. Interned for Snowboard Mag and many other publications. Was broke as a joke. Taught snowboarding, worked at a snowboard shop, snowboarder a bunch and met a ton of rad people. It was AWESOME.

2007-2010 – went to intern at Windell’s snowboard camp in Mt. Hood. Collected unemployment. Everyone kept asking me “So, are you actually planning on making money writing about snowboarding?” I kept believing I was. Moved back to Tahoe to KB and had an epic season. Got an offer to move to Boulder to work at SB Mag offices part time from June-Dec. Moved to Boulder for six months then back to Tahoe that next season. Worked a ton and actually started making some money at a restaurant and the mag part-time. Was “on-staff” officially. Moved back out to CO and lives in Boulder and Denver. Was Associate Editor at Snowboard Magazine and soon after founded Tahoe Snowboard Magazine.

2011

Decided the office life wasn’t right for me. Even though it was a snowboard magazine I still needed my freedom. Went back to freelance and decided to head back to where my heart really belonged; Tahoe. Moved back to Tahoe in 2011 and am LOVING life! Doing a ton of freelance for different publications including TransWorld Snowboarding, Burton Girls, Cooler Mag, Epic Life and others as well as working on the next issue of Tahoe Snowboard Magazine.

Oh yeah, and I also just released two books. I am officially an author! Check out “Mastering Snowboarding” from Human Kinetics with Hannah Teter and “Sammy The Shredder”- a children’s how-to snowboard book from Adventure Zoo Crew. I love writing, being outdoors, snowboarding, music, dancing, and inspiring others!
