My birthday was yesterday and just in case that wasn’t Awesome enough, I really wanted to do something great. I have been wanting to go to Catalina Island off of the So Cal coast forever. I’ve only been once when I was a kid, and what better way to spend my bday than on an island? I left on my solo birthday mission around 8 a.m. to catch the 10 a.m. ferry out of Long Beach. After a hour hop to Catalina, I landed in the quaint beach town of Avalon. It was a beeeeautiful day, perfect weather, and sunny. What more could I ask for?
It’s my birthday! And they gave me a ribbon to prove it.
The beach reminded me of being in Hawaii. Tropical and soooo nice.

Since most people in town travel by golf cart or bike, I opted to rent a bike and explore. The wind in my face and ocean breeze felt amazing, and biking around was so rad! I ended up at the private beach with cabanas, a bar, zip-line and rock climbing wall. Since I’ve never climbed a rock-climbing wall I decided today’s the day and went for it. Be Awesome, right? I took the “easy” route and it was actually still quite scary. Once at 35 feet, I thought I needed to come down so I repelled as fast as I could. Another check mark, boom.
After getting extreme I relaxed on the beach with a blended bevie and took a nap. It was really beginning to feel like a mini vaca and I was only a few hours away from home. The town itself is so frickin’ cute, it almost looks like a movie set. The main street is filled with shops and restaurants and it’s nice just to wander in and out of places.
For the remainder of my day, I just enjoyed my alone time, really taking the scenery all in. Although I couldn’t stay over, I will will surely be coming back very soon! I am so happy I went and I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. One of the most Awesome days yet!
