Janet Jackson was the one of my idols in the late 80′s-90′s. I was in dance classes at the time and JJ was busting out hit after hit including “Rhythm Nation”, “Control” and “Miss You Much”, all of which would play on repeat at the studio. One reason I was so consumed with JJ was also because Lydia who owned Dance Studio 81 at the time, her sister Tina choreographed all of JJ’s videos and tours. She was in most of her videos and was her backup dance/choreographer for years. Tina would come to the studio and teach us the dances. It was amazing. And PS, “Rhythm Nation” is still one of the best videos of all time. —TS
